The progress report from Estepona City Council highlights the ongoing works to repair and stabilize a section of the coastal corridor in Playa Bella. The project involves repairing 35 meters of wall by installing micropiles and backfill, as well as expanding the existing access stairway. The area, connecting La Chimenea with Playa Bella, has been damaged by sea storms, necessitating immediate action. The investment of 129,175 euros will also address cracks in the access staircase caused by previous storms. Despite a previous intervention in 2015, the effects of erosion and sea storms require additional reinforcement to protect the coastline. The City Council has long called for central government support to construct breakwaters and prevent further damage to infrastructure and equipment. Urgent stabilization measures are crucial to combat sand loss and wave erosion along Estepona’s beaches, including the at-risk section in Playa Bella.
