The exhibition ‘Peru Inside. Portraits of the everyday’ will be on view from November 20 to December 13, offering free entry. The City Council of Estepona announces that Room 2 of Casa de Las Tejerinas, situated in Plaza de las Flores, will exhibit ‘Peru inside. Portraits of everyday life’ by local photographer Alba Santos from November 20 to December 17. Comprising approximately twenty photographs, the exhibition stems from Santos’ journey to Peru in collaboration with a humanitarian aid organization. Santos explains, ‘They asked me to document their work with local families and communities. During this period, I traveled across various regions of the country, immersing myself in the lives of the individuals captured and capturing fragments of their daily routines with my camera.’ The exhibition is open for visitation on Tuesdays to Fridays from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm, and Saturdays from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm and 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm, with complimentary admission. Alba Santos Gavira, a native of Estepona, reminisces, ‘Art has been my form of expression since childhood. I would spend hours drawing, painting, crafting costumes, or constructing small sets. I delighted in imagination and materializing my thoughts. This creative drive led me to pursue Fine Arts at the University of Malaga, where I discovered my love for photography. I was captivated by its narrative power, each image resembling a cinematic moment. While I engage in various photography genres, documentary photography holds a special place in my heart as it captures reality, the ordinary, the visible world. It encourages us to observe diverse lifestyles, emotions, and ways of existence. Alongside personal projects, I professionally engage in commercial photography, particularly for restaurants, real estate, and architectural subjects. I have also dabbled in graphic design and possess a keen interest in spatial design. These collective experiences have influenced my perspective, making me more attuned to my surroundings, aesthetics, and their impact on our lives. Years after completing my undergraduate studies, I pursued a master’s degree specializing in fashion and advertising photography, further enriching my visual language.’
