On Sunday, June 8, the I Paella Contest will take place at El Calvario Municipal Park. Estepona’s City Council has announced that the event aims to highlight the local gastronomic culture and rice tradition, while showcasing the quality of regional products. Contestants are responsible for providing their own cooking materials, but will receive oil, vegetables, and rice from the organizers. The competition invites participants to prepare various types of rice dishes for the public to sample at 5 euros per serving, with proceeds going to charity. A panel of industry professionals, including chef David Canca, will judge the entries and award prizes totaling 2,850 euros.
