The Estepona City Council has uncovered a coffered ceiling dating back to the early 1900s during the ongoing expansion of the Municipal Archaeological Museum. The council has decided to preserve this impressive wooden ceiling, spanning over 100 square meters, and will apply a specific treatment to maintain its excellent condition. This type of ceiling, commonly used in local house construction at the time, had been concealed under a false ceiling during renovations. The decision to retain the original wooden beams aims to showcase the historical architecture and enhance the building’s authenticity. The revamped museum will feature these preserved beams in new exhibition rooms displaying prehistoric, Roman, and Islamic artifacts. Additionally, the renovation project includes upgrades to the courtyard toilets, carpentry, flooring, and the installation of an elevator.
