To meet the growing demand due to population growth, the City Council of Estepona has launched a process to award five new taxi licenses. Two of these licenses will be for up to 9-seat adapted vehicles for people with reduced mobility, while the remaining three will be for up to 7-seat vehicles. This initiative has been approved by the General Directorate of Mobility and Transport of the Andalusian Government, considering the city’s significant population growth over the past decade. With the addition of these new licenses, Estepona will have a total of 90 taxis, including six adapted for people with reduced mobility, exceeding the minimum 5% requirement set by the Royal Decree 1544/2007. The competition rules for the award of these licenses have been published, with requirements including not holding other taxi licenses and demonstrating previous experience in the profession within the municipality. Interested parties have until September 26th to submit the necessary documentation for consideration.
