In January, the regular plenary session will review the document submitted today by Councilwoman Cristina Cintrano. Antonio Montes will take over as the new head of Commerce, Public Roads, Outdoor Advertising, and Consumer Affairs. The City Council of Estepona has informed that the councilor responsible for Commerce, Public Roads, Outdoor Advertising, and Consumer Affairs has resigned for professional reasons. During the upcoming plenary session in January, the letter submitted this morning will be discussed. Mayor Antonio Montes will assume the role of the head of the municipal delegation of Commerce, Public Roads, Outdoor Advertising, and Consumer Affairs starting in January. The government team expresses gratitude to Cristina Cintrano for her significant contributions since 2019 in leading the municipal delegation of Commerce and Public Roads. Under her leadership, Estepona has witnessed a notable increase in commercial activity, with a 10 percent rise in opening licenses granted in 2025 compared to 2024. This translated to over 200 permits being issued, resulting in a new business opening every day and a half, reflecting a growth trend over the past decade. Estepona also achieved a record number of self-employed individuals in 2025, reaching 6,838. Cintrano highlights a 45 percent increase in self-employed individuals affiliated with Estepona over the last 14 years, according to the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security, and Migration. She takes pride in the economic recovery of the city, as evidenced by the improving unemployment rate, positioning Estepona as one of the Andalusian municipalities with favorable employment statistics. The Mayor of Commerce acknowledges the dedicated work of all staff within the Commerce and Public Roads delegation, emphasizing efforts to eliminate bureaucratic hurdles that could hinder business initiatives. Measures such as waiving the opening fee for innocuous commercial activities have been implemented. Cintrano also emphasizes the facilitation of business openings in Estepona through the electronic office. Additionally, she commends the Municipal Consumer Office for providing free assistance to residents needing to file claims due to consumer rights violations. The government team extends best wishes to Cristina Cintrano in her new professional endeavors and expresses appreciation for her service during her two terms.
