The Council is taking on the funding of significant enhancements to the service, offering more care hours and technical support beyond the required minimum. Estepona City Council is taking a significant step forward in improving home assistance, with a record allocation of about 5 million euros in the 2026 municipal budget. This substantial funding increase will allow for a record number of over 800 beneficiaries to benefit from the service. Home assistance ensures that dependent individuals can remain at home by providing comprehensive care from qualified and supervised personnel. This service includes preventive, training, rehabilitative, and care actions for individuals and households facing challenges in their usual living environment. While the service is funded by the Regional Government of Andalusia, local councils like Estepona provide additional co-financing to optimize service delivery. In 2026, Estepona City Council will allocate nearly 5 million euros (4,957,025.84 euros), marking a significant increase from previous years. Maria Aguilar, the Councilor for Social Welfare, emphasizes the importance of this service for the elderly and their families, highlighting the various means of support provided. Improvements introduced by the City Council include an economic fund for housing adaptations, cleaning products, and household cleaning for vulnerable users. Additionally, technical aids such as electric orthopedic lifts, elevating articulated beds, anti-decubitus mattresses, shower and toilet chairs, and ambulation devices have been increased. Complementary services like shock cleanings, pedicure, manicure, and hairdressing have also been expanded. Last year, the City Council assisted approximately 750 individuals, with the majority being women between 80 and 89 years old. Of all beneficiaries, 68% were women and 32% were men, with most falling between the ages of 70 and 90.
