A judicial sentence forced the Consistory to pay off a debt left by the socialists, resulting in high interests on unpaid works like those in Seghers urbanization, the Police School, and the Pabellón del Carmen redevelopment. The current government team found a 7 million euro debt from the largest construction company during the PSOE government, which was part of various municipal projects. Despite paying off a significant portion in 2012, the remaining amount had to be settled in court. The deputy mayor of Finance, Ana Vilaseca, highlights the mismanagement of the past government, leading to additional interest charges on outstanding debts. The council is working hard to clear all debts, including a substantial bank debt, aiming to make Estepona debt-free in the near future.
