The new rescue equipment, equipped with new watchtowers this year, will be operational until September 15 at La Rada, El Cristo, El Padrón, El Saladillo, and Arroyo Vaquero. Susana Aragon, the councilor responsible for Beaches, introduced the new machinery aimed at improving the cleaning and maintenance services on the beaches. Estepona City Council unveiled the latest beach equipment to ensure the coastline remains in top condition throughout the summer season. The machinery, as explained by Susana Aragon, will enhance the cleaning and maintenance services along the 22-kilometer coastline of Estepona. The equipment includes 3 tractors, 2 buggies, a truck crane, a rastronivelador implement, a beach cleaner, a multilink trailer, 2 recogecañas implements, a generator, 3 blowers, 3 hydrocleaners, and 5 brushcutters. Aragon emphasized the importance of beach maintenance as a top priority for the government team, which is carried out year-round. The lifeguard and surveillance service on Estepona’s beaches, including La Rada, El Cristo, El Padrón, El Saladillo, and Arroyo Vaquero, has already commenced. The team consists of 45 lifeguards, an ambulance with a technician and nurse, and a rescue boat with a skipper and lifeguard. The surveillance service will operate until September 15, from 12:00 to 20:00, 7 days a week. This summer, the lifeguards will use new surveillance turrets to replace the existing chairs, enhancing safety on the beaches. The turrets are resistant to UV radiation, moisture, impact, and do not require maintenance. The bathing areas will be closely monitored for any incidents, search and rescue operations, victim evacuation, risk information, safety advice, and enforcement of beach regulations. Additionally, the City Council provides adapted showers for people with reduced mobility to facilitate bathing. These showers have been installed on various beaches in the municipality to ensure accessibility for all beachgoers.
