The Estepona City Council has been awarded the prestigious Joan Hunt prize by the Provincial Council of Malaga and the CUDECA Foundation for their ‘Sharing Cultures’ initiative. This program, launched last year, aims to foster cultural exchange among the 135 nationalities residing in the city. Mayor José María García Urbano expressed gratitude for the recognition, emphasizing the importance of integrating foreign residents into the community. The government team’s commitment to uniting cultures and promoting mutual understanding led to the creation of ‘Sharing Cultures’. Through this initiative, the City Council seeks to facilitate the integration of diverse nationalities through activities promoting cultural exchange and participation in local life. The program has been praised as a model of coexistence by the president of the Provincial Council of Malaga, Francisco Salado, who highlighted the value of diversity in enriching society. Estepona will host two events this weekend as part of ‘Sharing Cultures’, focusing on Nordic countries on Saturday and Ukraine on Sunday along the Paseo Marítimo.
