The City Council of Estepona has achieved a significant milestone by completely paying off the accumulated debt of more than 300 million euros. This achievement has led to the implementation of the largest tax cut in the city’s history, with an average reduction of 20% on the Real Estate Tax (IBI) bills for the year 2025. The Mayor, José María García Urbano, highlighted the responsible and efficient economic management that made this feat possible, emphasizing the shift from debt repayment to increased public investment, services, and aid to families. The City Council will continue to explore further tax reductions in the future, depending on the economic situation. The elimination of the debt burden has allowed the council to redirect funds towards various projects and initiatives aimed at enhancing the quality of life, modernizing infrastructure, and promoting cultural and sports activities.
