The Estepona City Council has recently welcomed 7 new Local Police officers as part of their ongoing efforts to strengthen the police force. These officers have successfully completed the internship period following the approval of the competition corresponding to the Public Employment Offer (OPE) of 2024. Since 2011, the Council has filled a total of 60 positions through various public employment offers, demonstrating their commitment to enhancing security in the city. Mayor José María García Urbano emphasized the importance of public service and encouraged the new officers to uphold the spirit of service in their roles. The Council currently has two open calls for applications, which will result in the addition of 17 more police officers to the force. The Consistory plans to continue filling all existing positions in the Local Police staff through additional public employment offers, in line with regulations set by the Central Government. The municipal budget for 2026 includes provisions for new recruitment processes to ensure a steady supply of human resources for the Estepona Police Headquarters.
