A total of 22,000 euros will be distributed by the City Council to athletes registered in Estepona who have excelled in official competitions throughout the year. The objective of these Sports Merit Awards is to provide support to athletes in order to enhance their technical skills and promote high-level sports competition at regional, national, and international levels. The awards will be granted to athletes who have been registered in the city since January 1, 2024, hold a valid license from an Andalusian or Spanish sports federation, and compete in an Olympic sport or a discipline recognized by the Superior Sports Council. There are three award categories based on the level of competition achieved: Andalusian runner-up, Andalusian champion or Spanish runner-up (or higher), and Spanish champion or higher. The rules and application details can be found on the City Council’s website, with the deadline for submissions set until June 30. In the previous edition, 42 athletes received these awards in recognition of their dedication to sports excellence and their positive impact on Estepona’s sports community.
