From August 4 to 7, a series of exhibitions, conferences, screenings, and literary presentations will be held in honor of the 50th anniversary of the iconic film ‘Jaws’. Estepona City Council and the Unicorn Cultural Association are organizing these events to celebrate the masterpiece of Steven Spielberg, which is considered one of the greatest cinematic achievements of the 20th century. The festivities will kick off on Monday, August 4, at 8:00 pm at Casa de Las Tejerinas, with the opening of the exhibition ‘We’re going to need a bigger boat’ and a conference titled ‘The terrifying truth about sharks’ by biologist Federica Sarselli. The exhibition will showcase various memorabilia related to the film, including posters from different countries, books, records, magazines, and other collectibles accumulated over the past 50 years. On Tuesday, August 5, at 22:00, the beach of La Cala de Estepona will host a screening of ‘Jaws’, transforming the setting into the mythical Amity Island. The festivities will continue on Wednesday, August 6, at 20:00 at Casa de Las Tejerinas, with the launch of the commemorative book ‘Y tú, ¿a qué le tienes miedo?’ which delves into the fears instilled by ‘Jaws’ and other phobias related to real or imaginary creatures. The authors, Isabel López, Carlos Morcillo, and José Ignacio del Pino, will be joined by musician Pablo Carbonell for an acoustic concert at 10:30 pm in Plaza Antonia Guerrero. The celebrations will wrap up on Thursday, August 7, at 22:00, with a screening of ‘Jaws 2’ on the beach of La Cala, directed by Jeannot Szwarc.
