‘Active Seniors: Healthy Living’ is a program initiated by Estepona Town Hall to support healthy active aging and enhance the well-being of senior citizens. Mayor José María García Urbano recently met with participants of this program, which offers a variety of physical, cognitive, social, and cultural activities for individuals over 65 years old. The aim is to prevent social isolation, promote independence, and improve overall quality of life. Weekly exercise sessions, talks on healthy eating, outdoor excursions, and cultural visits are just some of the activities included in the program. By encouraging socialization, physical activity, and healthy habits, the program seeks to prevent health issues associated with sedentary lifestyles. The City Council has extended the popular weekly walks to twice a week, enhancing the experience with the distribution of fruits to all attendees. Additionally, there are other activities available through the Geriatric Cabinet, such as memory workshops, art therapy, and reading clubs. Participation in these activities requires registration through the Geriatric Office. The initiative reflects the City Council’s dedication to promoting active aging and creating inclusive spaces for seniors to thrive.
