Scheduled from October 27 to 31 at the Tenencia de Alcaldía de Cancelada, the workshop aims to bridge the digital gap and encourage a critical understanding of information. Estepona City Council, in partnership with the Press Association of Malaga (APM), invites elderly residents to take part in the latest iteration of the ‘Press without age’ media literacy initiative. With support from the ‘La Caixa’ Foundation and the Junta de Andalucía, the project seeks to equip seniors with media literacy skills to address digital disparities and promote active engagement through technology training. Held at the multipurpose room of the Mayor’s Office of Cancelada on October 27, 28, 29, 30, and 31 from 10.00 to 12.00, participants can attend with a family member or caregiver for assistance both during the workshop and while reviewing the material at home. Learn about cell phone usage, identifying fake news, and exploring artificial intelligence in a practical setting, alongside gaining essential digital tools for everyday use. Deputy Mayor Begoña Ortiz and Elderly Affairs Councilor Daniel Garcia commend the APM’s efforts to empower this vulnerable demographic with the skills needed to navigate technological changes, emphasizing the role of education in preserving overall well-being. To sign up for these workshops, interested individuals can contact the Mayor’s Office of Cancelada at Montemayor Street, 54, by phone at 952883785 ext. 1152 between 10.00 and 14.00, or via email at tacancelada@estepona.es
