The appointment of the renowned cantaora Rocío Bazán as Favorite Daughter of Estepona has been approved by the Plenary. The recognition will be officially conferred on February 28th during the city’s institutional ceremony for the Day of Andalusia. Maria Aguilar, the councilor delegate of Citizen Participation, emphasized the singer’s exceptional qualities and her deep roots in Estepona. Rocío Bazán, who inherited her passion for singing from her ancestors, has made a name for herself in the flamenco world through dedication and talent. Her voice, honed in local peñas and festivals, has garnered international acclaim, earning her prestigious awards and the opportunity to perform on renowned stages across the globe. In addition to her extensive contributions to flamenco, Rocío Bazán has also been a cultural ambassador for Spain, showcasing the art form in various international settings. The City Council has also approved the special interest declaration for a residential housing project by the Aprona Foundation, which aims to support individuals with disabilities. This initiative reflects the Foundation’s commitment to enhancing the lives of those with special needs and promoting social inclusion. The innovative project will provide housing options tailored to the unique needs of residents, further enriching the services offered by the Foundation.
