On Sunday, the IV Open Sea-Coast ‘Playas de Estepona’ sport fishing event will take place, starting at 09:00 hours on the beach of La Rada, situated between the river La Cala and La Escollera. Estepona City Council, in collaboration with the Club Amigos de la Pesca ‘Playas de Estepona’, is organizing this event. The event is expected to attract participants from across the country, drawing fishing enthusiasts with its charitable aspect where participants can contribute 2 kilos of non-perishable food for Caritas. The competition, which has been successful in previous editions, aims to promote the sport of angling from the shore, known as ‘surfcasting’, and set a benchmark for future competitions at different levels. With a maximum of 80 participants, the competition will end at 13:00 hours, followed by the weighing of catches at the Municipal House of the fairgrounds. Prizes include cash rewards, trophies, a Serrano ham for the best piece, and special recognition for female participants. Registration is open for 40 euros at local fishing stores and via phone.
