2026 will be faced by the Consistory with a budget record, timely approved, focusing on the needs of citizens and social groups. Mayor José María García Urbano highlighted the ‘historic milestone’ achieved in Estepona in 2025, as the entire 300 million debt inherited in 2011 has been paid off. This ‘zero debt’ allowed for the largest tax cut in the city’s history, with a 20% reduction in Real Estate Tax (IBI) this year and in 2026. The responsible resource management led to this speedy debt repayment, cutting unnecessary expenses that burdened the city in the past. The debt-free 2026 budget of 132 million euros will prioritize citizen services, with a record 27 million euros allocated for investments. Municipal achievements include integrating La Viña parking lot into the low-cost parking network, starting construction of VPOs on Camino de Cortes, and approving the urban development plan in Arroyo Vaquero. The ‘Neighborhood Brigade’ was created to enhance maintenance in residential and commercial areas, with workers from various municipal services joining to address specific needs.
