A new initiative by Estepona City Council aims to recreate a posidonia meadow in the Ethnographic Museum, offering visitors an immersive experience to raise awareness about marine conservation. The project involves the creation of an interactive room with screens and resources in the Sala del Mar, located in the Plaza de Toros. Estepona’s coast is known for its diverse marine life, including endangered species found in posidonia meadows. The museum exhibit will highlight the importance of conserving these habitats for biodiversity in the Mediterranean. The budget for the project is 53,000 euros, funded by the Directorate General of Fisheries, Aquaculture and Blue Economy of the Junta de Andalucía. The initiative is part of the museum’s efforts to renew its Sea Room, showcasing the region’s maritime heritage and traditional way of life.
