Estepona has seen a growing interest in athletics in recent years, with initiatives such as the construction of the Athletics Stadium and the success of events like the Estepona Half Marathon. The mayor is confident that the city is well-equipped to host such an event and has already begun preparations. While the final route is yet to be finalized, it is expected to encompass key landmarks such as the coastal corridor, the old town, the Botanical Park-Orquidario, and Avenida Spain. The president of the Athletics Club, Miguel de los Santos, expressed excitement at the prospect of hosting a marathon in Estepona, calling it a significant milestone for the club. Deyanira Rivera, the club’s vice-president, highlighted the event’s potential to engage young people in the city and promote a healthy lifestyle. Training sessions will be offered to participants, as running a marathon requires specialized guidance. In addition to the marathon, the Half Marathon will also take place on October 11.
