Investment of 35,000 euros in nursery schools for improvement actions by the City Council

Interventions in painting, locksmithing, carpentry, plumbing, works, and gardening have been carried out by the Consistory during the non-school summer period. The new course starting today includes free of charge for 2-year-old students. The City Council of Estepona has allocated approximately 35,000 euros for enhancement projects in nursery schools within the municipality, implemented during the summer months when school is out. Mayor José María García Urbano and Education Councilor María Aguilar visited Los Pitufos school to kick off the new academic year, offering a total of 371 places. Various tasks such as carpentry, locksmithing, painting, plumbing, and gardening have been completed by Municipal Brigades and specialized companies. For example, the interior of Cancelada Nursery School has been painted, with plans to paint the entire exterior area in the coming months. Additionally, new laminate flooring was installed in the blue classroom. An investment of 8,000 euros was dedicated to acquiring necessary furniture for all nursery schools. Notably, repairs were made to the rubber flooring at Calancha school. Improvement works were conducted at Cancelada, Calancha, Los Pitufos, El Nido, El Mar, and Gloria Fuertes Nursery School. In addition to specific projects, a comprehensive review of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, locksmithing, and gardening was carried out at all facilities. Mayor García Urbano emphasized the City Council’s annual commitment to maintaining schools, addressing tasks during school breaks. This academic year, Estepona’s nursery schools offer a total of 371 places, with approximately 80% already filled. A key feature of the 2025-2026 school year is the extension of free programs for two-year-olds.
