Estepona City Council announces that Casa de Las Tejerinas in Plaza de las Flores will showcase the works of Estepona sculptor Toby Govan and French painter Serge Bouvier, making his Spanish debut. The opening event is scheduled for July 31 at 8:30 p.m., featuring performances by pianist Angel Moya and poet Lorena Jimenez Martin. The exhibit will be open to the public every day in August, from Tuesday to Sunday, 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., with free entry. Govan’s sculptures, titled ‘The Millefeuilles of Life’, will include twenty large and twenty small works that invite viewers to touch and experience the stones’ energy. Bouvier’s exhibition, ‘Spaces and Mondays’, will showcase 40 paintings focusing on interior and exterior spaces, playing with light, contrast, and emotion. Govan, born in Edinburgh in 1967, learned sculpting from his father and painting from his mother, eventually flourishing as an artist with the support of Sam Benady and Sandra Bellington. His monumental sculptures can be seen in public spaces worldwide, crafted from materials like Sierra Bermeja stone and lapis lazuli. Bouvier uses acrylic and oil to create paintings that evoke impressions and feelings, blending figurative and abstract techniques to guide viewers through his art. He has participated in regional exhibitions and created sets for plays in Paris and beyond.
