The author from Madrid, Julia Viejo Sanchez, has been awarded the V International Poetry Prize ‘City of Estepona’ for her work ‘Nest Minerals’. The jury praised the book as ‘imaginative and forceful, showcasing originality in everyday life’. With over 2,300 participants, this literary contest organized by the Estepona City Council offers a prize of 7,000 euros and publication by Pre-Textos. The jury members, including Ana Merino, Carlos Marzal, and Ana Fernández-Villaverde, highlighted the work’s narrative form and contemporary vision. Estepona Mayor, José María García Urbano, emphasized the city’s commitment to culture, with new cultural spaces like the Mirador del Carmen and a vibrant program of activities. Julia Viejo, born in 1981, has a diverse literary background, including short stories, novels, poetry anthologies, and translations.
