The Estepona Municipal Government has initiated a fresh initiative to assist families with children under the age of 16 in achieving a better work-life balance. This program, part of the Corresponsables Plan of the Department of Social Inclusion, Youth, Families, and Equality of the Andalusian Regional Government, offers daycare services and educational programs. The plan includes a Guard and Custody Service for children aged 6 to 16, as well as activities focused on training and leisure. Estepona City Council has begun the process of contracting services to implement programs that promote family reconciliation, in alignment with the Corresponsables Plan 2025/2026. The aim is to foster equality between men and women, create quality employment opportunities in the care sector, and enhance the professional experience of non-formal caregivers. The program, which has a budget of 110,082 euros, will run until September 30 and may be extended. It includes six classrooms catering to different age groups, equipped with appropriate play elements. Families residing in Estepona with children aged 6 to 16, or those whose parents work in the city, are eligible to benefit from the Guardianship and Custody Service. Additionally, a training and awareness program will be conducted to promote co-responsibility and inclusive practices. The activities will emphasize the use of inclusive language, female role models, values education, teamwork, and equal participation of boys and girls. The operating hours will vary based on the school calendar, with afternoon sessions during the academic year and morning sessions during holidays. Each classroom will have a coordinator and monitors trained in first aid and equality. Eligibility for the program will prioritize single-parent families, victims of gender violence, women facing long-term unemployment, and families with additional care responsibilities. Financial status and family commitments will also be considered during the selection process.
