Targeting teenagers aged 14 to 18 from schools in Estepona, the goal of the program is to support them by fostering their participation and integration in current societal issues and their surroundings. Maria Aguilar, councilor for Education and Citizen Participation, along with project manager Alexandra Polacci, shared details about the ‘Outstanding and Responsible Citizen’ training program. Running from April 30 to May 14 in local public and private schools, the initiative aims to empower young people to engage with and address pressing societal and environmental challenges. The program provides a platform for reflection on relevant issues affecting this demographic, their families, and the community as a whole. The first phase of the program has been implemented in various schools, with upcoming sessions scheduled for additional high schools in the area. Featuring debates with student representatives and esteemed experts, including professionals in adolescent psychology, clinical psychology, and management excellence, the program also involves collaboration with industry leaders promoting healthy lifestyles, sports, and environmental conservation. Key topics include identity development in adolescence, responsible technology use and social media, and instilling sustainable values in young individuals.
