Estepona City Council has announced that, following the great success of the inaugural edition, Estepona will once again be the host on October 3 for one of the major cycling events on the national calendar: the Costa del Sol Gran Fondo 2026. This internationally renowned cycling tour, organized by Terraincognita Sport, positions the town as a hub for sports and active tourism. Commencing and concluding in the heart of Estepona, the event will showcase the stunning landscapes of Sierra Bermeja and various towns in Malaga’s interior on October 3, offering a blend of natural beauty and high-level sporting challenge. Covering a route of 130 kilometers and 3,300 meters of elevation gain, the tour will not only highlight the area’s environmental beauty, but also its cultural heritage and tourism offerings, solidifying the municipality as a premier destination for cycling and sustainable sports. The Costa del Sol Gran Fondo will kick off and finish at Estepona’s Fair, Sports and Leisure Center, passing through Casares, Gaucín, Cortes de la Frontera, Jimera de Líbar, Atajate, Benadalid, Algatocín, and Genalguacil, with the renowned climb to Peñas Blancas as the ultimate challenge before descending back to Estepona to complete the 130-kilometer journey.
