The Estepona City Council has announced that the Culture delegation’s Cine-Club will conclude its spring series with a screening of ‘Freud’s Last Session’, a 2023 co-production between the USA and UK, directed by Matt Brown and featuring Anthony Hopkins and Matthew Goode. The plot follows the purported meeting between Sigmund Freud and Oxford University critic, writer, and academic C. S. Lewis, where they engage in a debate regarding the existence of God. The narrative unfolds on the brink of World War II and towards the end of Freud’s life as he invites renowned author C.S. Lewis for a discussion on the topic of God’s existence. Delving into Freud’s complex relationship with his daughter Anna and Lewis’ unconventional love affair with his best friend’s mother, the film intertwines past, present, and imagination. The screening, not suitable for children under 12, will take place on Thursday, June 5, at 8:00 p.m., at the Centro Cultural Padre Manuel, in its original English version with Spanish subtitles, and admission is free until seating capacity is reached.
