The latest initiative approved by the Estepona City Council is the Municipal Asphalt Plan 2025-2026, focusing on enhancing approximately twenty streets and avenues, with a special emphasis on the outskirts of the municipality. This marks the seventh program aimed at improving the asphalt in the city, aiming to enhance the safety of various roads throughout the area. The primary goal of the project is to revamp the pavements of multiple roads while incorporating sustainability standards. These efforts aim to enhance user safety and comfort, reduce noise pollution from traffic, and minimize atmospheric pollution. Additionally, the initiative will aid in preserving the municipal road infrastructure, preventing the need for costly complete reconstructions due to deterioration. The selection and prioritization of roads to be refurbished consider factors such as pavement wear, age, and traffic intensity. The project will initially target 19 roads for intervention, with the possibility of expanding this number based on project requirements and progress. The upcoming works will include streets in the town center like Carmen Laforet street and Puerta del Mar Avenue, as well as suburban areas such as Lubina street and Mexico Avenue. The tender for the project’s contract will open soon, with a budget of 1,757,313.32 euros and an expected execution period of 5 months. This new initiative builds upon six previous programs that have enhanced over 250 streets across both urban and suburban regions of the city. The ongoing efforts in road improvement complement Estepona’s overall urban transformation and beautification projects in various municipal areas. By prioritizing road safety through asphalt enhancements, the City Council remains committed to implementing new plans for road improvement in both urban and suburban areas.
