The winner of the public tender has proposed a 26% price reduction and plans to complete the project within three months. The Estepona City Council has granted the contract for the expansion of the coastal corridor, which will stretch through the eastern part of the municipality, specifically in the vicinity of Playa Baños-Matas Verdes. Several companies showed interest in the project and submitted bids during the tender process. The winning proposal, offering a 26% cost reduction from the initial budget and a two-month shorter timeline, was selected. The new section will feature a 575-meter wooden walkway, linking Avenida de la Playa to the west and Marriott’s Playa Andaluza. It will also provide access to Punta de Baños-Casasasola and Saladillo beach areas. The project, initially priced at 782,106 euros (including VAT) with a 5-month completion timeframe, will now cost 578,758.61 euros and be finished in three months. All necessary approvals have been obtained for the construction, including authorization from the provincial delegation of the Ministry of Sustainability and Environment of the Junta de Andalucía. The materials chosen for the walkway, such as wooden decking and soft structures, aim to blend harmoniously with the natural surroundings. Safety features like railings and lighting will be installed along the promenade. The Estepona City Council remains committed to the development of a comprehensive coastal corridor, with 92% of the project already completed. Along with the recent extension in Benamara, plans for future sections in Bahía Dorada and Atalaya are underway, demonstrating the council’s dedication to enhancing the coastal infrastructure of Estepona.
