The upcoming renovation of the Botanical Orchid Park, a popular tourist spot in Estepona, will involve new plantings, pavement remodeling, painting, street furniture upgrades, pedestrian paths, and enhanced lighting. The City Council aims to enhance the park’s image and services, marking the most significant overhaul since its opening a decade ago. The project includes planting new trees and botanical species, improving lighting, paving, and street furniture. Additionally, a section of the park will undergo complete repair, accompanied by informative signs for visitors. The goal is to maintain the park’s current design while improving its overall condition, with a focus on replacing pavement and urban furniture. Deputy Mayor Blas Ruzafa describes it as a comprehensive remodeling project to enhance the public space. The plan also addresses improvements to irrigation systems, exterior wall treatments, and security panels. The City Council will install energy-efficient LED lighting and scenic lighting for the botanical specimens. These efforts will significantly enhance the park’s civic, security, accessibility, biodiversity, and cultural aspects. Since its inauguration in 2015, the Botanical Orchid Park has become a key attraction in Estepona, boasting an impressive collection of over 3,000 plant species, including 1,500 orchids.
