The commencement of enhancements to the road surface is set to begin tomorrow on Los Frutales Avenue as part of the new Municipal Asphalt Plan. Estepona City Council is set to kick off the initial phase of the plan, targeting nearly fifty streets in both the city center and the surrounding suburbs. This marks the sixth initiative in road improvement efforts by the Consistory, building on previous conditioning work carried out in recent years on main and secondary streets. The first phase will encompass a total of 43 roads selected based on the current state of the road surface, with room for expansion should the need arise during the course of the project. The initial six-week phase will focus on streets within the urban area, starting with Los Frutales Avenue and moving on to Peral, Matias Prats, and Jose Luis Diez streets. Subsequent works are scheduled for Avenida del Carmen and various other streets including Lazaga, Luis Buñuel, Alcalá Galiano, Gabriela Mistral, Juan Guerrero, Ronda, Dos de Mayo, Jacinto Benavente, and Calle La Mantilla. Additional work is planned around the parking lot on Avenida de la Libertad, involving excavation, backfilling, screeding, and treatment. The plan will continue into March with a focus on streets like Calle Los Naranjos, Calle Terral, Calle José Santacana, and Avenida de Andalucía, extending into Los Naranjos street, Gutenberg street, Alonso Cano, Newton, and Arrabal Industrial. The subsequent phase will target suburban areas such as Del Molino, Del Reposo, Caddie, Valderrama Golf, Del Aire, De la Estrella, Irene Villa, Del Salmón, Isla Verde, Del Dragma, Avenida Costa Galera, Avenida México, and others. The contract for the asphalting plan was awarded to Elsamex Gestión de Infraestructuras for 1,751,639 euros, significantly lower than the initial bid price of 2.2 million euros. Deputy Mayor Ana Velasco announced plans for a new asphalting scheme to commence in the fall, continuing the municipality’s efforts to improve road conditions.
