Numerous works have been carried out in Blas Infante, Picasso, La Lobilla and Bello Horizonte, focusing on improving accessibility and enhancing public spaces. The City Council of Estepona has provided an update on the progress made by the Neighborhood Brigade in its first four months of operation. This municipal service aims to enhance the maintenance of residential and commercial areas in the city, and has already implemented over a hundred actions in neighborhoods such as Blas Infante, Picasso, La Lobilla and Bello Horizonte. Led by the deputy mayor of Services and External Control, Blas Ruzafa, the brigade consists of 10 masonry workers along with painting, locksmith, electricity, plumbing, and gardening professionals. Their work is tailored to the specific needs of each neighborhood, covering various tasks like masonry, painting, road signs, electricity, plumbing, gardening, paving, sidewalks, and removal of architectural barriers. In January, the focus is on La Lobilla and Bello Horizonte, where improvements in accessibility are being made to crosswalks, slopes, and sidewalks to enhance mobility and pedestrian safety. Notable projects include widening sidewalks and enhancing the Eduardo Flores park with new street furniture, playground updates, and landscaping. The Neighborhood Brigade also addresses painting, traffic, and locksmith tasks, responding to daily neighborhood needs. Citizen participation is encouraged, allowing residents to suggest improvements and report issues through the municipal Green Line service. The City Council is committed to promoting accessibility, especially through the installation of 40 zebra crossings to improve mobility for seniors, individuals with disabilities, and parents with strollers. The Neighborhood Brigade will continue to operate on a rotating basis in all neighborhoods of Estepona, with upcoming projects planned for the La Lobilla to Los Reales Avenue area.
