The signage approved by the Spanish Cycling Federation is being installed by the Estepona City Council, as they recognize the Peñas Blancas-Los Reales bike climb as one of the most remarkable routes in Spain. This route has been classified as ‘Mythical’ by the Royal Spanish Cycling Federation due to its unique characteristics in terms of distance, slope, gradient, and altitude. The councilman responsible for sports, Luis Gil, has announced the installation of the approved signage to inform cyclists that they are embarking on a route considered ‘Mythical’. The recognition not only highlights the beauty and challenge of this route, beloved by both professional and amateur cyclists, but also enhances the city’s sports, tourism, and environmental offerings, elevating Estepona’s status as a tourist destination. The signage project is funded by the MUNITUR program of the Junta de Andalucía, with informative devices placed along the route starting at the traffic circle on Los Reales Avenue. The project includes 15 kilometer signs on the MA-8301 road, as well as 6 signs in the Natural Park area and 7 information panels at key locations along the Peñas Blancas-Los Reales bike climb.
