The World Ham Festival in Estepona, Known as ‘Popi’, Starts with Anticipated Half a Million Visitors

Taking place along the seafront, the festival features nightly free concerts from artists like La Húngara, Joana Jiménez, Kiki Morente, No me Pises que llevo chanclas, and Mojinos Escozíos. Estepona City Council announces the commencement of the X World Ham Contest ‘Popi’ City of Estepona at 9:30 pm tonight, showcasing Iberian products. Over 65 exhibitors with 200 professional ham cutters will offer tastings, with Canal Sur Television presenter Eva Ruíz as this year’s godmother. Organizer José María Téllez ‘Popi’ is expecting over half a million visitors due to the event’s popularity and reputation as a summer gastronomic highlight in the region. Alongside celebrating ham cutters and Spanish gastronomy, the festival includes a diverse lineup of musical performances each night. The fair runs from 7:00 pm to 2:00 am, offering Iberian ham, pork products, cheeses, and artisan breads for purchase, as well as live ham cutting demonstrations and tastings paired with local wines and beers.
