Scheduled from October 10 to 24 (Thursdays and Fridays) at 8:00 p.m., the Centro Cultural Padre Manuel will host a series of theatrical performances. Estepona City Council has announced the inaugural edition of the Theatre Festival ‘ESteatro Farándula’, organized by the Municipal Theatre Group ‘Farándula’ under the direction of Luque. The festival will run from October 10 to 24 (on the 10th, 16th, 17th, 23rd, and 24th of October) at 8:00 p.m. in the Auditorium of the Centro Cultural Padre Manuel. This ambitious project features seven plays and aims to showcase a diverse selection of high-quality works across different genres, including titles like ‘El Niceto y la Leoncia’, ‘Ay Carmela’, and ‘La Consulta’. With this festival, the GMT ‘Farándula’, boasting a theatrical legacy of over 40 years, seeks to promote, enjoy, share, and strengthen theatre as a vital component of Estepona’s cultural scene. The festival will kick off on Friday, October 10, at 8:00 p.m. with the play ‘Hora de Visita’ by the Valladolid author J.L. Alonso de Santos. Admission fee per day is 5 euros, with a special rate of 20 euros for all five days. The program includes: – October 10: ‘Hora de visita’ by J.L. Alonso de Santos. – October 16: ‘El Niceto y La Leoncia’ by José Cedena, and ‘Las cenizas del Difunto’ by Stella Manaut. – October 17: ‘¡Ay, Carmela!’ by José Sanchis Sinisterra. – October 23: ‘La Consulta’ by Ángel Camacho Cabrera, and ‘Figuras sin Paisaje’ by Jorge Márquez. – October 24: ‘Domingo Mañana’ by J.L. Alonso de Santos. Established in 1983, the Municipal Theatre Group ‘Farándula’ made its debut in 1984 with the play ‘En la ardiente oscuridad’ by Buero Vallejo. Over the years, the group has premiered nearly a hundred titles spanning various theatrical genres. Notable accolades include winning the Best Play and Best Female Interpretation at the XV Certamen de Campillos for ‘La gata sobre un tejado de zinc caliente’, a rendition of the work by Tennessee Williams. The group has also received recognition at the XIII Certamen de Campillos and XVI Certamen de Teatro ‘Isidro Carbonero Villa de Campillos’. Since 1998, the GMT ‘Farándula’ has been under the direction of Jesús Luque.
