Unveiling of enigmatic personalities marks the start of the II Estepona Literary Festival

The renowned artist Coco Dávez showcases a collection of 17 works titled ‘Faceless’, capturing the essence of influential figures that have left a mark on her life. Estepona’s mayor, José María García Urbano, has visited the exhibition, which will be officially inaugurated this evening in the presence of the Cordovan fashion designer Palomo Spain, the art gallery owner Topacio Fresh, and the singer Soleá Morente. The Estepona Town Hall has announced that the opening of Coco Dávez’s exhibition marks the commencement of the II Estepona FLEST Literary Festival, taking place at the Mirador del Carmen Cultural Center until the following Sunday. The internationally acclaimed illustrator presents a selection of 17 works in ‘Faceless’, showcasing her distinctive style characterized by vibrant colors and the absence of facial features on the portrayed personalities. Mayor José María García Urbano has commended the artist’s exceptional talent and global appeal, recognizing her as a boundary-breaking creative. He emphasized that the festival’s second edition highlights Estepona’s cultural advancements, exemplified not only by new city facilities but also by high-caliber events like this literary celebration. The inauguration event, located on Terraza Street, will feature Coco Dávez alongside Palomo Spain, Topacio Fresh, and Soleá Morente, showcasing a series of faceless portraits that intricately capture the essence of iconic figures from the 20th century, including Pablo Picasso, David Bowie, and Chiquito de la Calzada. The exhibition, which includes specially crafted pieces for this occasion, will be on outdoor display until September 15th, aligning Estepona with other global cities like London and Hong Kong that have previously hosted the ‘Faceless’ project. Valeria Palmeiro, known as Coco Dávez, hails from Madrid and has made a significant impact in various artistic realms such as painting, photography, and art direction. Her vibrant portfolio has led to collaborations with major brands like Shiseido, Netflix, Dior, and Prada, among others. Her works have graced galleries in London, Hong Kong, Paris, Miami, Lisbon, Barcelona, Madrid, and Santiago de Chile, earning her recognition from Forbes magazine as a standout figure in the art scene. The festival’s program for the first day also features a book signing session by the bestselling romantic author Megan Maxwell at 7:30 pm at the Mirador del Carmen Cultural Center, followed by an engaging dialogue about her literary journey at 9:00 pm. Furthermore, the renowned poet Luis García Montero, director of the Cervantes Institute, will participate in the ‘Poets in the lighthouse’ segment at 10:00 pm, with a book signing session to follow at 10:45 pm. The day concludes with a performance by the esteemed flamenco singer Soleá Morente at 11:00 pm, representing a distinguished lineage of flamenco artists in Spain.
