From March 18 to April 12, interested participants can register for the contest. The jury will select the top seven Crosses on May 1, with prizes ranging from 300 to 1,000 euros. Estepona’s City Council has organized the traditional competition for the festival of the Crosses of May, where the most beautiful altars will be recognized. The crosses will be placed in designated spaces by the Festivities department, ensuring no more than one cross in each square or street, with a minimum distance of 200 meters between them. Contestants can find the competition rules on the City Council’s Electronic Headquarters website and submit their entries by April 12, 2025. This year, there is a single category for the best cross in streets or squares, with prizes of 1,000 euros for the winner, 750 euros for second place, 500 euros for third place, and 300 euros for the following four positions. The jury will evaluate the beauty of the Cross, its setting, adherence to tradition, and the craftsmanship and details of the display. The jury will visit the Crosses on Thursday, May 1, starting at 12.00 noon without prior notice. After deliberation, the jury will announce the winners.
