Promoting Gender Equality through Storytelling in Estepona Schools

The promotion of equality between women and men to prevent gender-based violence is highlighted in a new initiative by the City Council of Estepona. The fourth edition of the activity ‘Spring of stories for equality’ will be brought to fourteen schools in the town through the play ‘Neither more nor less’. This storytelling cycle aims to raise awareness on gender violence and promote values education. The story, presented by ‘Cientacuentos Cuentapiés’, emphasizes the importance of equality between women and men in preventing gender violence. This initiative is part of the ongoing efforts by the Municipal Women’s Information Center to combat gender inequality and raise awareness among the public. The activity will target kindergarten and primary school groups, with two daily sessions per day on selected dates in May. According to the Councillor for Women, Julia Simon Ortega, promoting equality education at a young age is crucial. The Mayor also expressed satisfaction with the positive response to the initial storytelling event. ‘Spring Storytelling for Equality’ is supported by the Andalusian Institute for Women and aims to promote egalitarian values in education.
