The ongoing urban road renovation project in Estepona is nearing its final phase, with over 90 percent of the works already completed. This project, known as the VI Asphalting Plan, has a budget of 1,751,639 euros and has seen improvements on more than 30 streets in the city center and surrounding areas. The Estepona City Council is already making preparations for the upcoming VII Asphalting Plan, which is set to continue the efforts to enhance the infrastructure in the municipality.
The current phase of the project has focused on enhancing various streets in the town center, including Peral, Matías Prats, José Luís Díez, Lazaga, Luis Buñuel, Alcalá Galiano, Gabriela Mistral, Juan Guerrero, Ronda, Dos de Mayo, Jacinto Benavente, La Mantilla, Del Naranjo, Terral, and José Santacana. Additionally, improvements have been made on avenues such as Los Frutales, del Carmen, and Andalucía, as well as the vicinity of the parking lot on Avenida Libertad. Work has also been completed in the industrial estate area, covering streets like Gutenberg, Alonso Cano, Newton, and Arrabal Industrial.
Furthermore, the project has extended to the suburbs, with paved streets such as Del Molino, Del Aire, De la Estrella, Caddie, Irene Villa, Del Dragma, Avenida Hacienda del Sol, and Avenida de los Andaluces. Remaining tasks include the paving of streets like Del Reposo, Del Salmón, Isla Verde, Valderrama del Golf, Avenida Mexico, the access road to Costa Natura beach, access to and parking at Los Granados, and Avenida del Norte.
The contract for this project was awarded to Elsamex Gestión de Infraestructuras, which presented the most competitive bid of 1,751,639 million euros. This amount represents a significant reduction from the initial bid price of 2.2 million euros. The VI Asphalting Plan builds upon the success of five previous projects in Estepona, which have collectively improved over 200 streets and enhanced approximately 300,000 square meters of surface area in the city center and suburban regions.
The City Council has announced plans to launch the VII Asphalting Plan in 2025, continuing the commitment to enhancing the infrastructure and road network in Estepona.
