Today, the XII Walk titled ‘Unmask its appeal: The tactics of the industry with tobacco products and nicotine exposed’ took place, leading participants through the pedestrian streets of Estepona to Calle Real. An information table and workshops on physical activity and music therapy were set up in El Paseíllo. Estepona Town Hall announced the celebration of World No Tobacco Day, organizing the Healthy Walk ‘Unmask its appeal: The tactics of the industry with tobacco products and nicotine exposed’ in the old town. The event was coordinated by the Outpatient Addiction Treatment Center under the Delegation of Social Services, Elderly and Social Integration, in collaboration with Health Centers Estepona West and La Lobilla, as well as the Red Cross and Volunteer Platform of Estepona. The goal was to educate citizens of all ages about the harmful effects of smoking on health and provide guidance on adopting healthy habits for personal and social well-being. Participants, dressed in white T-shirts and caps, gathered at Plaza Antonia Guerrero at 9:30 am to kick off the march, which passed through various streets before ending at Calle Real for workshops on Physical Activity and Music Therapy. A stand offering information on smoking cessation methods and health promotion programs was also available for interested citizens. The initiative, part of the ‘Program for a million steps’, aims to encourage daily physical activity and foster community engagement. This collaborative effort between the City Council and Health Centers aims to address the increasing demand for smoking cessation services. The Local Network of Attention to Smoking, established by the Costa del Sol Health District and the City Council, includes the Health Centers and the Outpatient Treatment Center of Estepona, providing comprehensive addiction treatment services and prevention activities.
