A new velodrome project is in the works in Estepona, as the City Council has announced the tender for the construction of this facility. The velodrome will be part of a periurban park spanning over 20,000 square meters, offering amenities for cycling, rugby, and soccer. The oval-shaped cycling stadium will feature bleachers for up to a thousand spectators, along with essential facilities like toilets, changing rooms, gymnasium, offices, and storage spaces. Situated in the northwest of Estepona, near the Monterroso stream and Camino de las Mesas, the periurban cycling stadium park will require additional services and connections for water, sewage, and electricity. With a budget of 3,947,870 euros, including VAT, the construction is expected to be completed within a year. The design of the sports field follows the Regulations on Sports Facilities and Spaces (NIDE) outlined by the Higher Sports Council, ensuring compliance with the necessary standards for soccer, rugby, and cycling. Furthermore, the City Council is also working on a partial plan for the sector, which includes the development of 300 subsidized housing units (VPO) among other initiatives.
