The official ceremony is scheduled for Sunday, the 28th, at the Felipe VI Auditorium. Estepona’s City Council will commemorate Local Police Day this Sunday with a special event where several awards will be presented. Among the honorees are recipients of the Medals for Police Merit with white badges. One of these prestigious awards will be bestowed upon the president of the Provincial Consortium of Firefighters and vice president of the Provincial Council, Manuel Marmolejo. Additionally, the Royal Cavalry of Ronda will be acknowledged for its contributions. Manuel Marmolejo, who also leads the Spanish Firefighters Association (CONBÉ), has shown unwavering dedication to citizen protection and the enhancement of essential security and emergency services over more than thirty years of service. His efforts have fostered collaboration between various entities, fostering joint projects and endorsing initiatives that have directly enhanced public safety and well-being. This collaborative spirit has also led to coordinated efforts with Estepona’s Local Police in emergency situations, reinforcing the collective endeavor for the benefit of the community. His exceptional leadership, strategic foresight, and profound sense of duty have positioned him as a prominent figure in the realm of security and civil protection, recognized with the Medal of Police Merit with a white badge, symbolizing appreciation for his career, commitment to public safety, and the values that elevate service to society. Estepona and Ronda share historical ties through geography, commerce, and the united defense of the Serrania. Today, this connection is embodied in the Real Maestranza de Caballería de Ronda, an institution that not only preserves collective heritage but also strengthens present and future bonds between the municipalities, fostering collaboration and camaraderie. In acknowledgment of its outstanding trajectory, invaluable contributions to culture, education, and social cohesion, as well as the principles of service and shared responsibility that honor our institutions, the Real Maestranza de Caballería de Ronda will also be honored with the Medal of Police Merit with a white badge. The City Council will also present this prestigious award to National Police Inspector Miguel Ángel Gutiérrez Blanco, who heads the Heritage group within the Local Brigade of Judicial Police since 2021. His work is characterized by investigative efficiency, commitment to combating crime, and close collaboration with Estepona’s Local Police. This fruitful institutional partnership has led to numerous joint operations and coordinated services, fostering mutual respect, unity, and effective cooperation between law enforcement agencies. Lieutenant Colonel of the Civil Guard, Manuel Ovidio Corredor Sánchez, will also be recognized for his exceptional service, which includes roles in explosive deactivation, maritime security units, and significant international missions under the auspices of the European Union and global police cooperation organizations. His close ties with Estepona’s Local Police, his city of residence, along with his availability, international experience, and professional generosity, have provided invaluable support to the local force, enhancing their daily operations and bolstering security measures. Salvador Gil Ocaña will receive another Medal of Police Merit with a white badge for his exemplary leadership as head of Estepona’s cleaning and waste collection service. His outstanding rapport with the Local Police and other municipal employees, characterized by a dedicated attitude and respectful demeanor, has earned him recognition for his commitment, hard work, and exceptional human qualities. The Estepona City Council will also bestow the Police Merit Medal with a different white badge upon several officers of the Local Police, including Francisco Javier Avila Navarro, Juan Carlos Illescas Guillen, Jose Manuel Lopez Calderon, Jose Luis Maldonado Troya, Juan Alberto Melgar Guerrero, and Antonio Gonzalez Fernandez. Furthermore, during the official ceremony overseen by Mayor José María García Urbano, set to commence at 13.00 hours in the Felipe VI Auditorium, additional accolades will be presented to Local Police officers, and public commendations will be bestowed for commendable interventions.
