The exhibition of paintings by Wendy Tong, ‘The spirit of the cork oak forests’, will be on display to the public from October 2 to 15, with free admission. The Town Hall of Estepona announces that Room 2 of Casa de Las Tejerinas, situated in Plaza de las Flores, will be showcasing the artwork from Tuesday to Friday, between 09:00 and 20:00, and on Saturdays from 09:00 to 14:00 and 16:00 to 20:00, offering free entry. Wendy Tong, born in England in 1961, had to forego art school due to family circumstances and started working at 16. Residing and working in Spain for the last two decades, she recently obtained a BA Hons degree in Painting from OCA, Nottingham, UK. Her debut solo exhibition, ‘The Alchemy of Landscape’, took place at Casa Henrietta in Jimena de la Frontera, Cádiz, in February/March 2025. Wendy’s art draws inspiration from the stunning natural scenery surrounding Jimena de la Frontera, within the Alcornocales Natural Park, which she explores daily. Her aim is to capture the colors and patterns of the landscape, blurring the line between abstract and figurative art. Memory and emotion are key elements in her work, reflecting the vibrant hues of the rocks and scenery. While some pieces are more realistic, she strives to present the local landscape from a fresh perspective.
