A contract worth 118,116 euros has been granted by the Estepona City Council for the installation of solar street lights in six streets on the outskirts of the city. This initiative is part of the council’s plan for efficient lighting, which will also cover seven additional roads in the near future. The selected streets for the installation are Rosalía de Castro, Vereda de los Frailes, Camomila, Menta, Aloe, and Velerín-Hospitén road. The company A7GR Servicios y Obras has been assigned the task. Following this, the council plans to extend the solar street lights to streets like Caserío, Tolox, Alquería, Quintana, Masía, urbanization Cortijo Casareño, and Padre Luis García Cerezo. This expansion is expected to be completed soon. The main goal of these efforts is to enhance visibility and security in residential and peri-urban areas, while reducing energy consumption and costs. The project involves the installation of 247 solar streetlights, with an initial budget of 250,000 euros. This move showcases the council’s dedication to energy efficiency and sustainability, as emphasized by Deputy Mayor for Services and External Control, Blas Ruzafa. The council is also planning further initiatives for the coming years to continue enhancing the efficient lighting network throughout the municipality.
