A recent health check-up initiative targeting children aged 6 to 15 has been conducted by Estepona City Council to prevent potential heart issues. Approximately 150 students from the Municipal Sports Schools (EDM) of Football and Basketball, engaged in the 2025/26 season of the Provincial Educational Leagues, underwent medical examinations prior to the start of competitions. Medical experts assessed cardiac parameters, spinal health, and other factors to safeguard against future heart conditions, while also gathering family history data. These exams, provided free of cost by the City Council, were conducted in small groups at Polideportivo El Carmen every half hour, a service that has been available for over ten years to participants of the Educational Leagues.
