The completion of the breakwater wall construction on the La Cala road has significantly enhanced the safety of this important route in Estepona. The Estepona Town Hall has invested 78,650 euros in this project, which was completed within a two-month timeframe. The La Cala road serves as a crucial communication route for the local residents and experiences heavy traffic from both vehicles and heavy-duty trucks, connecting various parts of the town with agricultural and maintenance activities. The construction of the breakwater wall was deemed necessary to prevent landslides and other potential hazards caused by water accumulation during heavy storms. Additionally, measures have been taken to redirect surface waters away from the road to a natural channel, minimizing environmental risks. Plans are also underway for the construction of two more breakwater walls in Loma de Atanasio and Huertas del Padrón, further improving road safety in the area. These initiatives are part of the tourism sustainability program funded by the European Union-Next Generation EU.
