On the upcoming Sunday, November 16, at 7:00 pm, a new and grandiose production of the opera ‘NABUCCO’ by Giuseppe Verdi will be presented at Teatro Auditorio Felipe VI in Estepona. The performance will feature subtitles in Spanish and a cast of over 70 artists, including top international soloists from the National Opera Theatre of Moldova. Nabucco, the great lyrical tragedy by Verdi, marked a pivotal moment in his career and is based on the Old Testament and the play Nabuchodonosor. Despite not being among Verdi’s most frequently performed operas, Nabucco was his first major success, propelling him to fame with its intense lyricism and choral grandeur, particularly the iconic chorus ‘Va, pensiero’. The opera, set between Jerusalem and Babylon in 586 B.C., explores themes of power, faith, redemption, and freedom, depicting the oppression of the Jewish people by the Babylonian king Nebuchadnezzar. The National Opera of Moldova, situated in Chisinau, boasts its own orchestra, choirs, soloists, and ballet, offering a diverse repertoire including Nabucco along with other classics like Madame Butterfly and Aida. Tickets for the performance can be purchased at teatroestepona.com or at the Auditorium box office two hours before the show.
