The municipal government has commenced the construction of breakwater walls in Loma de Atanasio and Huerta del Padrón to enhance safety. This initiative follows a similar intervention on La Cala road a few weeks ago. The Estepona Town Hall has announced that efforts are underway to strengthen and improve safety measures on these rural routes, where breakwater walls are being erected to prevent landslides and provide structural support. The wall in Loma de Atanasio covers an area of approximately 44 square meters, while the one in Huertas del Padrón spans 150 square meters. These projects complement the previous work carried out in October, when a new breakwater wall was constructed on the La Cala road to address erosion issues caused by heavy storms. Additionally, measures have been implemented to manage surface water flow and prevent environmental disruptions. The overall plan, including these three initiatives, is part of the tourism sustainability program and is funded by the European Union’s Recovery Plan Transformation and Resilience.
