Since January, the Municipal Women’s Information Center has addressed 59 new cases and is actively involved in the psychological treatment of 52 victims from previous years. The majority of cases involve women aged between 40 and 49 years. Estepona City Council offers assistance to a total of 111 women affected by gender violence through a specialized comprehensive care department linked to the Municipal Women’s Center. The profile of women seeking help for abuse cases is mainly in the 40 to 49 years age range, accounting for 37 cases, or 33.33%. In preparation for the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women on November 25, Estepona will honor victims, express solidarity, and remind women that they can seek help and advice from municipal services. The official ceremony will take place at Plaza Antonia Guerrero with authorities, manifesto reading, and a minute of silence. The center has handled 1,403 requests for advice, financial aid, psychological support, and legal guidance this year. The focus has been on psychological help (54%), equality issues (32%), and legal advice (15%). The center also engages in coeducation programs in schools to promote awareness of equality. It conducts various activities such as awards, contests, and awareness campaigns to empower women and promote gender equality in the community.
